ALEXANDRE BIGOT (1862-1927) CÉRAMISTE & ANDRÉ DE MANNEVILLE (1868-1928) Conch, sleeping nymph, batrachian and snake, 1898, a work most probably unique and presented at the Salon de la Société des Artistes Français, Paris, 1898Fontaine et son bassin. Proof in polychrome enamelled stoneware; beige with brown runners and blue runners. The body of the fountain depicting the shell and summoned by a sleeping nymph. The basin, in the shape of a holy water font, is decorated on the sides with a batrachian on the left and a snake on the right. Missing a point of the conch, a few chips and scattered enamel jumps, the seahorse-shaped tap is missing. Signed MANNEVILLE BIGOT (barely legible) under enamel on the left side at the top of the conch.
