Beautiful Helmholtz or Koenig analyzer composed of a wooden structure, a rotating mirror and 8 brass spheres corresponding to precise frequencies visible at the output of a resonator. The device allows the frequency analysis of complex sounds thanks to the property of hollow solids to vibrate with a given sound and to reinforce this sound. In order to observe several resonators simultaneously, Koenig has associated each resonator with a manometric capsule, which is itself connected to a flame. As the flexible membranes of the capsules are subjected to the resonator's air pressure variations, it modifies the gas pressure and modulates the height of the flame. Thanks to the rotating mirror, used as a stroboscope, the evolution of the flames is observed. The object was designed by Rudolph Koenig (1832-1902) on the basis of the work of Hermann Von Helmholtz (1821 - 1894). Koenig was a renowned Parisian physics instrument maker at the time, specializing in acoustics. He worked with Helmholtz, a physicist known for his work on energy and resonances, present in all physical systems. Materials: brass, glass, cast iron. Period: 1880 - 1907.
