Ariane 4 model version 44L ech.1/20 Large... - Lot 138 - Ader Entreprises & Patrimoine
Ariane 4 model version 44L ech.1/20 Large model of more than 300cm of the Ariane IV launcher. In 1981, the European Space Agency wanted to develop a new launcher to meet the new needs of telecommunications satellites. The technology having evolved, the teams decided to change the Ariane III launcher (heir of the Ariane I and II or Asterix and Diamond-A launchers, launched since 1965). The Ariane IV project required rethinking the Kourou facilities and enlarging the launch complex to allow more launches per year. It was the construction of the ELA 2 launch complex that made it possible to assemble and launch the rocket more safely and thus reduce the time between two launches (from 28 theoretical days to 18). The design of the new rocket was similar to the other models. The first launch was on June 15, 1988 when the Ariane IV4LP launcher launched three satellites. Afterwards, technological improvements were made to double the payload. Booster thrusters were added over time, resulting in the Ariane IV 2P, 4P, 2L, 4LP and 4L.... The Ariane IV project is distinguished above all by its modularity: six versions allow a wide range of satellites to be launched in single or dual configuration. This flexibility contributes in particular to making Ariane IV a major success. On February 15, 2003, Ariane IV's last launch took place after more than 120 successful missions, which was a record for a commercial launcher. The Ariane IV program brings together nearly 60 companies and 11 countries whose flags are on the rocket. The model we propose is that of an Ariane IV 4L rocket, the last launcher in the series. On this model, the rocket had four liquid propellant boosters. This version successfully completed 39 missions. The model has a detailed, skinned representation allowing to visualize the launcher in the upper stage and a satellite in the fairing. This batch was made possible thanks to the support of CNES, a historical partner of the Palais de
