Byron Company - Lot 155
Byron Company
Liner Normandie (CGT 1935), tennis deck
The Normandie (1935-1947) was one of the longest liners of its time. With its many facilities (dining room, grill restaurant, chapel, grand salon, boutiques, shooting gallery, theater, cinema, library, winter garden, sports hall, swimming pool, etc.), its luxury was unheard of at the time, and the French Line wanted to promote it. So, in 1935, they asked the prestigious American agency Byron & Cie (with whom the French Line had been collaborating for several years) to produce a complete reportage of the ship from bow to stern.
Silver print on baryta paper, from digital file (black & white lambda print)
