The 1st class smoking room on the liner France (CGT 1962), designed by decorator André Arbus.
Compagnie Générale Transatlantique called on the services of numerous artists. The set of Soleil d'Orphée tapestries by painter-cartonnier Jean Picart Le Doux is the highlight of the decor for the 1st class smoking room. Eleven chandeliers by master ironworker Gilbert Poillerat illuminate the ceiling like twinkling stars.
