Roger Schall - Lot 160

Passengers heading for the first-class dining room on the Normandie (CGT 1935), during the cruise from November 19 to 26, 1938.
The Normandie (1935-1947) was one of the longest liners of its time. With its many facilities (dining room, grill restaurant, chapel, grand salon, boutiques, shooting gallery, theater, cinema, library, winter garden, sports hall, swimming pool, etc.), its luxury was unheard of at the time. The grand dining room of the first class bears witness to this refinement. With a capacity of 700 people and a height of three decks, the room was decorated by Raymond Delamarre, Albert Pommier, Leon Drivier, Pierre Marie Poisson and Louis Dejean. René Lalique designed the glass cascades and chandeliers. The furniture was designed by Pierre Patout and Maurice Pré. The tablecloths were designed by Alexandre Turpault.
