Small framed engraving of the LUCYA by René Mambini in 1989 In 1898 the ship Lucya was built in England by the Sunderland Ship Building on behalf of the Company SCHENKER, Walfford and Cie. In 1901 the ship was launched for trials near Dunkirk. Mr. Eugène SALLES became a partner in the English company and thus became the owner of the Lucya, but on the first voyage from Dunkirk to Saigon, the ship ran aground off Bonifacio. It was a great tragedy for Eugène Salles who found himself ruined because the ship was not insured. This engraving pays tribute to the Lucya 100 years after its creation. 27,5 x 21cm
