Large poster of galaxy NGC 1300, framed.
Galaxy NGC 1300 is a barred spiral galaxy in the constellation Eridan at
61 million light years from Earth. The galaxy was discovered in 1835 by John Herschel
and was photographed in 2005 by Hubble.
Astronomers believe that two-thirds of spiral galaxies are barred (the spiral arms
do not emerge from the centre of the galaxy, but from a bar of stars passing through the centre).
