American actor Clark Gable (1901-1960) aboard the liner Liberté
The liner Liberté (1950-1962) marked the new generation of post-war transatlantic liners. At 270 meters long, she was the longest French liner and one of the longest in the world (after the 320-meter Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth). She made 200 transatlantic crossings, carrying 400,000 passengers on board.
