Muriel PENICAUD (b. 1955) Danse de l'âme Meudon, France, 2018 Black and white print, Piezography Prosur papier Photo Rag Hahnemühle 308 g Printer: Art Photo Lab, Croissy, France Print date: 2025 Edition: 2/12 Print size: 35 x 52.5 cm Framing: 50 x 70 cm Work sold with certificate of authenticity. Black and white photograph by Muriel Pénicaud entitled "Danse de l'âme", from the "Wind into the soul" series. The image captures a child in motion, arms raised in a spontaneous dance. The blurred gesture and the reflection in the mirror evoke a fleeting presence, an expression of the soul in motion. Muriel Pénicaud is a photographer, scriptwriter, company director and committed woman. Inspired by Henri Cartier-Bresson's maxim: "To photograph is to align the head, the eye and the heart", she has developed a profoundly humanistic and poetic approach. Exhibited in Paris, Tokyo, Beijing and several international capitals, the Collège des Bernardins and the Club We Are in Paris each devoted an exhibition to her in 2024. The same year, she won the prestigious Julia Margaret Cameron Award for women photographers, and published Matrice des Mondes (SKIRA Editions), a monograph of 150 photographs illustrating her humanist and poetic vision. A former Minister of Labor, ambassador and company director, she continues her commitment to women, youth and the arts, notably through the Sakura Foundation she founded to support emerging artists committed to major societal issues.
