Jacques FERRANDEZ (b. 1955) Evocation de cartes postales d'Alger Watercolor on paper Drawing dedicated in pencil to Françoise Nyssen Published in Théorie d'Alger by Sébastien Lapaque, Actes Sud 2024 30 x 40 cm Designer and scriptwriter Jacques Ferrandez was born in Algiers in 1955. From 1987, he devoted himself to Carnets d'Orient, his great fresco on the history of Algeria, from the conquest to independence. Since 1996, he has multiplied his literary collaborations and adaptations. Mainly Albert Camus and Jean Giono (Gallimard). In 2021 and 2023, he will publish the 2 volumes of Suites algériennes 1962-2019 on post-colonial Algeria, concluding Carnets d'Orient 1830-1954 and Carnets d'Algérie 1954-1962, which have now been brought together in two complete volumes (Casterman). He also publishes illustrated texts for Actes-Sud BD: Le Désert sans détour by Mohamed Dib (2021), and Théorie d'Alger by Sébastien Lapaque (2024).
