Sarah MOON - Lot 12
Sarah MOON Sunbathing, 2018 Silver gelatin print from a Polaroid negative 24 x 30 cm Print signed "EA" by the artist Drystamp of the artist and printer Patrick Toussaint at the bottom of the print Work sold unframed A photographer since 1970 and a filmmaker since 1978, Sarah Moon, born in 1941, defies conventions and subverts codes to create a body of work of unyielding singularity. The scope of her creative work has continually expanded, ranging from still images to moving images, and from fashion photography and advertising films to personal artistic exploration, beginning in 1985. From her early days in fashion and advertising, Sarah Moon has worked to make a photograph “a one-second fiction.” She has collaborated with brands and fashion houses—Cacharel, Issey Miyake, Yohji Yamamoto, Dior, Comme des Garçons—as well as French and international fashion magazines. In 2020, the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris dedicated a major exhibition to her, *PasséPrésent*, featuring a selection of photographs taken from the 1970s to the 2010s, as well as some of her short films. Her photographs have been compiled in numerous books, including *Coïncidences* in 2001, *Circuss* in 2003, *12345* in 2008 (which received the Nadar Prize), *Alchimies* in 2013, *now and then* in 2016, *PasséPrésent* in 2020, and in 2022, *Dior by Sarah Moon*.
