Lee UFAN - Lot 22
Lee UFAN Untitled (I), 2024 Pigment ink print on Hahnemühle William Turner 300 gr. paper Edition of 70 + 10 EA Signed lower right, dated 2024, and numbered by the artist 4/70 lower left. 74 x 57 cm Lee Ufan was born in 1936 in Korea; he lives and works in Paris, New York, and Japan. He is the artist-theorist behind the Mono-ha (“School of Things”) avant-garde movement, a Japanese artistic current that developed in parallel with minimalist and radical movements. Mono-ha is often considered very close to the attitudes and choices that gave rise to Arte Povera in Europe. Lee Ufan’s sculptures are presented as juxtapositions of stones or wood gathered from nature and industrial materials, while his painting tends toward a single mark, toward meditation and the evocation of emptiness.
