Sale ON LINE on www.ader-ep.com The history of the Banque Palatine dates back to the 18th century: the Protestant Vernes family settled in Lyon after the Revocation of the Edict of Nantes, then arrived in Paris in 1821 where they set up the headquarters of the Vernes et Compagnie bank. The family developed its business and became one of the leading financial institutions, alongside the Rothschilds and the Mallet family. After its merger with Banque Commerciale de Paris and its nationalisation in 1982, BVCP (Banque Vernes et Commerciale de Paris) was bought by Istituto Bancario San Paolo di Torino in 1989 and renamed Banca Sanpaolo. In 2003, CNCE (Caisse Nationale des Caisses d'Épargne) bought Banque Sanpaolo, which was renamed Banque Palatine in 2005. In 2007, it set up its head office at 42 rue d'Anjou in the Hôtel d'Anjou, designed by the famous French architect Ernest Sanson (1836-1918), who gave his name to the architectural style of these elegant 19th century residences: the Sanson style. With this rich history, Banque Palatine is therefore one of the oldest French banks. It has survived the centuries and has accumulated numerous objects and works of art that bear witness to the institution's history. The headquarters on rue d'Anjou houses furniture, paintings and objects typical of the banking profession, from the former Banque Vernes, Banque Générale du Commerce and Banque Veuve Morin Pons.
