The former Comptoir National d'Escompte de Paris (CNEP), built between 1878 and 1884 by Édouard-Jules Corroyer, a pupil of Viollet-le-Duc, stands at the bend in the Grands Boulevards, below rue Rougemont.
In the structure as well as in the ornamentation of the building, the architect honors technical progress. A way to illustrate in the architecture the commitment of the banks in the development of the industry. Saint-Gobain's glass slabs allow light to filter through to the vault, and the hall's double glass roof ensures that it is watertight, without compromising on aesthetics.
BNP Paribas will remain in this emblematic building, which has witnessed many decisive stages in the institution's history, until 2022. 14 Bergère", which has been constantly reinvented, will thus begin a new chapter in its long history, as BNPP leaves these premises to continue to adapt to a changing world, by moving into innovative buildings better suited to new ways of working together and to the digital world.
