From the former JDE offices: Design furniture - USM Haller
Online sale
Closes on Monday, June 17, 2024 at 11 a.m.
The JDE story began in 1753, when Egbert Douwes and his wife Akke Thijsses opened their grocery store De Witte Os in Joure, the Netherlands. Egbert and Akke wanted to sell products that were "part of the pleasures of everyday life", mainly coffee, tea and tobacco. Their business grew rapidly, and they eventually renamed the company after their son: Douwe Egberts.
In 2015, following a merger between DE MASTER BLENDERS 1753 and the coffee arm of Mondelēz International, the world's largest coffee company is created: JACOBS DOUWE EGBERTS. The brand moves to 30 bis, rue de Paradis, whose buildings have successively housed a Cristalleries Baccarat factory, the Baccarat Museum and the Pinacothèque de Paris.
This year, a new page is turned for the company, which is moving to the Odéon district. By auctioning off furniture that will not be reused after the move, JDE is reaffirming its commitment to the principles of the circular economy, and thus limiting overproduction that is costly to our environment.
